    i got this years ago and have loved it.. its on tin and big.. no frame but you can see where one was.. does anyone know what kind of picture it is? ive never seen something printed on tin.. its old and the litho on it is very nice. just curious how it was done. i dont know where to even list it

      I don't know anything about how this picture was produced, but I know who it depicts. This is St. Anne with her daughter, the young Blessed Virgin Mary. Tradition states that Mary's mother was an older woman named Anne. She is usually shown in the act of "teaching" Mary, either by showing her a book, or by raising a finger to indicate that she's making a point (or both). Mary is always shown as a young girl rather than as an infant.

      Of course you may already know this (your question doesn't ask "What does this depict?") but I thought I'd mention this in case you don't :) It is almost definitely specifically Roman Catholic in origin and, as you say, very nice indeed... a lovely mother/daughter scene.

      No I did not know this. I'm Christian but love this. Wish I could find an old gilted frame for it. Thank you for the information
