I think this style of vase is instantly recognisable as Japanese by just about everyone. It was a common style in the 50s and 60s and many versions were exported West.
These two are by UGS and carry design cues similar with other brands.
A coloured glass (often very bright) has been mixed with white slag glass and then clear cased. The form is generally moulded in the base and then hot worked toward the rim which is always free form.
Not everyone's style and quite dated now but this was relatively cheap and cheerful hand made glass.
BTW - I know very little about UGS. Cough up what you know please :)
Height: typically around 18cm
So beautiful great pictures as well
Effervescent vases!
Great Karen!!
I think I have had a sheltered life as far as glass is concerned lol, these are lovely!!
Very beautiful piece amazing
Karen,
These are definitely unique and quite beautiful! I had never took a second look at glass while out on my treasure hunts, but after seeing all of your beautiful glass on CW, I now find myself stopping and carefully inspecting glass pieces. Not that I plan to start collecting glass, but I have a whole knew appreciation for it now. Your collection is simply beautiful!!!
Thanks Roy for the appreciation for glass and photos!
You are right Ivonne - like a drink of pop! Thanks for the comment.
Lol Judy - glass is a world many wisely don't enter. Stay sheltered and just enjoy the view. Thanks, I'm smiling away here now!
Thanks Master - appreciate your comment and love.
Scott you are a deliverer of good feelings with your comments. Thanks so much.
Read my comment for Judy lol.
The great thing about CW we get to see and learn about all sorts of things, including things we adore but won't own, like trunks!
Image one is abstract art......you might like to enlarge the photo.
"Cough up what you know please :)" as if! Anything I know I've learned from you.
Great pics - loving the quality of your pictures and the glass, I the candy like quality. Well done.
I have learned much from many sources Peggy - we have to ask! Thanks for your comment :)
In truth these vases became more admirable to me when I viewed the photos.
Has that ever happened to you?
As an owner of exceptional glass Mac, this comment from you is wonderful. Thank you!
Yes, Karen, it has.....often in fact lol
I'm not a big fan of green Karen, but this is one of those pieces that works for me! The combo of the green, white and clear, in addition to that wonderful texture checks all the blocks for me! Of course the yellow is just as special :-)
Oh, and by the way, great pics!
We differ here Rick - I really like green glass, but I'm glad this one won you over.
As usual, thanks for an insightful response!
Ice cubes melted into beautiful glass. Me like.
