    Hey I found this when I was cleaning out some stuff and Iam really curious about what time period it's fromy and the type of case it is. Unfortunately I do not have much info on it so the pictures will have to do. If u can help me please let me know!

      Not a lighter - a brass vesta case carried in the pocket and used for storing matches. The match is struck on the ribbed section on the bottom. These are usually late 1800s/early 1900s in date. A very nice find!

      I obtained one awhile back as well and was stumped at first. There is quite a bit of info online about "Match Safes", even a collectors club. Check out this site for more details http://www.matchsafe.org/
