A slight possible "correction" to this story, for the historical record. :-)
The M. H. Rhodes Co. probably did not manufacture the bed vibrator unit itself -- only the MARK TIME coin switch that controls it. Similar Mark Time units were made in various configurations to control other devices as well, commonly being found built into commercial clothes dryers of the era too.
I have an identical (I believe) MARK TIME switch as yours, which also happens to now control one of my own bed vibrators. (it of a different make and configuration as yours) It was actually purchased NOS by itself. (eBay)
I BET -- if you'd happen to carefully peel off that round M.H. Rhodes insignia (it is actually 'stick-on') you'd find a 2nd coin slot to accept a dime, which gives about 5mins of time on the clock. :-)
