This rocking chair has been in my family for over 50 years. It was purchased at a flea market in New Jersey and then refinished not to our satisfaction. When we got the chair, it had a badly damaged cane seat. The chair may be oak and looks mass produced although I have never seen another one like it. I am guessing late 19th - early 20th century since it appeared old 50 years ago.

Hi, I have the same chair and was trying to find out more information about it. Have you been able to find anything out? Thank you in afvance!

The rocking chair is an "oak stick and ball design" dating from somewhere between 1890 and 1910. My memory of the rocker having a cane seat was probably incorrect. Originally the chair had a solid seat although a cane seat could have been added later. I have no information about the manufacture except that the chair was made in the USA.

My chair had a solid seat and a partial label underneath that says NY. I can't tell what else it says though. Thank you for the information.
