Original 1960s Go~Go Boots I acquired from Canada. Not only are they MOD to the extreme, but if you look at the similar Go-Go Boots in the Metropolitan Museum they bear an extreme likeness - just the fabric was used in the reverse direction. Intentional? I do not know. These artifacts from the 1960s are unmarked as to designer (may be because of the direction of the Fabric?) but the ones in the MET were attributed to "Beth Levine (December 31, 1914 – September 20, 2006) who was an American fashion designer most known for her designs from the 1940s through the 1970s. Under the Herbert Levine label, bearing the name of her husband, Herbert Levine, Beth was the best-known American women's shoe designer from the 1950s to the early 1970s, and was called "America's First Lady of Shoe Design" until her death in 2006". (wikepedia). They are visually remarkable when on display. The inner lining is blue leather. Fascinating find.

I don't think that plastic zippers were available in 1968. And the heels aren't covered. There are no labels or stamps inside them? On bottom?
Hi - I am not an expert in these but the zipper itself is metal - and painted to a matching color. The guide(?) though, has two tiny pieces of metal at the top and what i will call the rail is a acrylic or plastic like material. The heels are covered with in blue material that i believe is suede that matches the interior lining, which if turned down at the top would match the heels. Thanks for your inquiries Celiene, I have things I look for before buying but needless to say footwear is not my speciality.

The Levin boots are leather outside, too. They do not appear to have any zipper... And are not over the knee. Here's the Met info.

I think the are by Tony The Shoemaker which was a spin-off label designed by Beth Levine.
My Go-Go boots I got when I was between 9 and 12 years of age. Hot pink. They were below my knee ( not above ) and with a lower heel.....but I was just a young girl and HAD TO HAVE THEM. Remember we got them in Calgary, Alberta
AHHH - that may be true Celiene - I knew they weren't an exact match but close enough in my mind to be "in the family"- like the heels covered in colored suede but not the pattern. She wouldn't have wanted an exact match to the higher end ones on this label - this would all make sense. Thanks for your help. Always fun to learn about the collection.
I can't find any that are not laceup. But here's the suede heel. No one mentions what the interiors are made of. I cannot imagine wearing boots that are lined in suede (while material outsoide). HOT! Can you post an additional second post to show close up of the zipper with pull & the interior of the boot, and sole please.
