Does anyone know about this piece...is it old; what's its origin(Chinese); is it made of jade or soapstone; what the markings say (is it a name)?????
It is very heavy, and cold to the touch. It has tiny striations running vertically on the column, and it is not perfectly round. Although very smooth, you can feel that it's not perfectally round when you run your fingers around the column.
My mom bought this at an antiques consignment shop along with another piece. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

From what I've read online, I think it might be that also. Any ideas on how I could find out more info (age, etc)?

      Thx!

That's a very interesting piece. I wonder if the drawing or etching was to be the rest of the design. I'd love to know the results.

I just can't find anything like it online. Thanks! I'll let you know what they say.
