Hello everyone,
A couple of necklaces bought for $2.00 each from Vinnies!
The first one is gold colour coated beads.....lightweight, so not glass, but doesn't have a parrot clasp so must have a bit of age about it. I like it!!!
The second one is made from seeds.....Quandong and Ininti, so I believe, which are native to Northern Australia. The quandong is not normally purple,is usually light brown but has been coloured.
I really like this one......and waiting on the day I can find a piece of early australian gold set quandong jewellery which I have seen pictures of .......so beautiful. At least I was able to recognize the quandong in this necklace, so this is good!!
I could probably say this was made by Australian Aboriginal women.........it may have been........but I can't confirm that. Either way I really like it , hope you do too, thanks Judy
Two really pretty necklaces! Over the years, I've begun to appreciate costume jewelry more than I used to. When all my gold and silver has been sold, I'll still have my pretty costume necklaces with which to decorate myself! :-)))))
Judy,
They're both really nice. I especially love the necklace made from seeds. That one is really interesting and beautiful! Nice St. Vinnie finds!
Thanks Bonnie, yes I know what you mean.......I really should let some of my good stuff go.....I am thinking about it more and more these days.......would still have my costume necklaces too!!
Hey Scott,
Thank you, yes it is interesting and it feels nice on as well. Very unusual to find anything at Vinnies too!! :))
The quandong colored beads are very interesting!
They have almost same shape as Rudraksha beads, seeds too from India:

And I love the sweet golden color of the other necklace too!
Hi Pascale, yes, they do don't they......and some nice jewellery made with them as well!
Neither are pieces that would normally attract my attention, but I really do love them both!! My tastes must be changing....again, still, LOL !! Thank you!
The memories Judy! We used to play Chinese checkers with an old hand made set with dyed quandong seeds as markers. I wonder what happened to it?
Costume jewellery is great - having recently lost a beautiful brooch I am now only wearing the cheap stuff!
I love the golden necklace.
Well fancy that Karen!!! How great!!
You lost a brooch?????? Oh no!!! Most of the time I only wear costume!! It does the trick..........the good stuff usually gets worn once after I get it, then goes into the display case so I get to look at it all the time!
Are you ok? You seemed a bit out of sorts last night.......
Bonnie, Scott, Mike, Pascale, Jean, Fleafinder, Martika, Aura, Sean and Bijou......really appreciate the love everyone, thank you!!
love the colors!!
Thank you Sean!! I wasn't sure about them at first....but they have grown on me!!
Appreciate the love PhilD, thank you!
All good thanks Judy.
I lost my Instone pixie pin recently, sad and annoyed!
Oh Karen, that is terrible, sorry to hear that! Chin up, hope something nice happens for you soon:)))
Ooh, no... the cute Pixie... I'm very sad for you Karen :-(
A little hint to secure brooches, pin them on your garment with a piece cut from a large rubber band on back! Even if the pin comes out of the clasp it won't slip :-)
Glad you like them Betty, thank you!
Appreciate the love Caperkid, Thank you!!
