I just received this fairy lamp. Since it is the first of its type in my collection, I thought there might be an knowledgeable art glass person in this forum who could help me to make an attribution to a maker.
The base is a Clarke pyramid-size produced by Taylor & Tunnicliff . The shade is three layers of glass, white, pink and white. The intaglio cut design is simply ferns. The pattern repeats three times around the shade.
The vintage is 1890s and it was probably commissioned by Clarke. During this time period, Thomas Webb was producing cameo fairy lamps for Clarke. I want to attribute this intaglio cut fairy lamp to Webb, but I have no documentation to back it up.
I suspect I am grasping for straws, but would anyone have any other intaglio designs positively attributed to Webb. Or, any other evidence that I could use to confirm an attribution.
Or, perhaps I'm way off track and there is another glass maker I should investigate.
Jim.
