    Mysterious maker again!

I missed several other pieces from him, prices growing now for paste jewellery :-/

But I managed to catch this one, to join the collection and the other paste critters!

Wingspan 4.5cm (1.3/4"), 3.2cm (1.1/4") from end of beak to end of tail.

The slight differences between all the "urn" marks of this maker might be explained by replacements of the punch/stamp through the years of use.

    Mystery goes on :-D

Since I watch specially now paste pieces with that particular mark, I see damaged small pieces going for over 60€, with bidding war... they would have been 30€ not so long ago :-/

Haha Pascale, you know I am loving these pieces!!! Do you know I am even starting to recognise these pieces on ebay for being "the mystery mark" just by looking at the picture before I read the description!!! How funny is that!! I know I will have to buy one someday!!!
    11. kyratango kyratango, 8 years ago
Bijoucaillou... Scott... I have to agree ;-)) Thank you!

Judy, for sure! You have to get one, they are so well made and recognisable easily when you already saw some :-)
There is a TassieDevil on 925-1000 forum, is it you? I can't login or reactivate on the site! Maybe you can post some pics of the mark from my posts to ask there?
    12. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 8 years ago
Well fancy that Pascale!!! No, definitely not me.......and I did not like the "tone" of the voice of that Tassiedevil either!!

Oh my what a gorgeous swallow brooch!!! And I agree with Judy, once you've seen a few of these pieces, you can sort of spot them out of a crowd. Now with this post I can see a clear photo of the mystery mark. I'll keep an eye out and see if I can help. :)

What about that first mark in the top left corner?

      Katherine, thank you!!!
This maker's pieces are rather distinctive, the marking evolved through the years, sometimes in the same punch than the purity (900 or 925), sometimes separate.

The mark in your link can't halas be the same... Paris1925 suggested it too.

It is for 999 pure silver, on coins or bullions, only struck in Paris from 1958 to now.

I'll post a grouping of all marks I have of the "mysterious maker" soon!

Many thanks to all of you, 27 lovers :-D

Yes, I saw that the information was different in terms of purity, but I also noticed that the mark is associated with different ranges of purity, sometimes 900, sometimes 925, so I think it's more probable that this amphora is the correct mark with unsettled (evolving as you call it) information attached on that forum which hasn't been looked into or corrected or explained. Anyway, that's my layman's theory, lol. :)

Ha Katherine, I now have Agram and Lentilka on the quest! They kindly offered to search in German and explore the jewellery forums there :-)
      Yepeeee!!!

Hello Kyra, I hope this finds you well.

This mark is much clearer than the others - I can make out a definite handle . Would you please post another couple of the mystery marks for comparison. Many thanks. Tuesday is Halloween here, and there are a lot of black cats around!!

Hi Gillian! Hoping you're going well as I am :-)

Are you on the sleuthing? ;-)

Love black cats! But not those in the unsolved mystery section...;-))

      Hi Again,

I can see now that the mark is the same as the second enlarged picture of your last link posted 10 months ago. When I originally looked at the mark some time ago, all I saw was a shrub in a pot! There's so many different interpretations here.

I'm okay thank you - my computer has been sick for a while, and I'm still nervous that it's going to stop working any moment.

Yup sleuthing - it still makes me mad, and it's been so prolific lately.

Perhaps a lead to the mysterious maker...
The parisian diamond company based in London worked in the right time frame in high quality imitation diamonds and pearls mounted in silver and gold!
