Roseville introduced the Donatello design in 1916, which was heavily inspired by the Italian renaissance. This basket handled vase stands over 15" tall and is about 8" in diameter. It is decorated in brown and green glazes over an ivory colored base glaze. There are bas relief sculptures of Putti cavorting around the perimeter are separated by trees, and the body has ribs above and below the sculptural panels. The base is not marked, as expected for Roseville from this era. Pardon the dust, but I try not to pick it up it too often due to the delicacy of the handle.
Excellent detail on this Bob! What really caught my attention are those wonderfully long handles!
Thank you Rick - the handles make it very graphic!
