Another flea market find. A silver brooch which
    I believe is a Russian brooch. It's marked: p star 875.
The mark under her skirt isn't readable.
I do not know how old this brooch is.
    Paid € 2,50 (US$ 2,64) for it.

A lovely brooch! Clean up that mark under her skirt with a bit of silver polish and a Q-Tip. From what I can see of it, it looks like "RJ1".

It's from the Soviet Era and originated in one of the Republics on the Western side of the Union; I'll look up the exact location (the letter P) when I get a chance. The mark under the skirt is probably a manufacturer's mark.

Could be Latvian but this is just a sense; a good reference book should have the exact ID.

Val - I think it's somewhere in-between those dates. :-))))) Maybe davyd286 will be able to find the marks.

Not Russian. Made in Riga, Latvia’s capital, after 1957. Soviet Union, though.
