Hope this helps.

Having tremendous dificulty identifying a time period for this piece as well as the markings. Have shown it to several sterling silver experts with no luck. CW has proven to be an invaluable problem solving resource. Hoping someone reading can provide some answers.

I stand corrected: 800 upside down.

I can understand it looking like 800 but when viewed closely, it actually appears to be symbols most likely Scandinavian.
