This double thorn is unusual in that the thorns are pulled from only three of the six 'corners' of the hexagonal shape. The long hexagonal shape has been folded in half to produce a 'double' thorn vase. As you see the colour deepens from a 'hint' of pink to a pretty mauve.

Image three shows it with a highly reactive uranium glass thorn vase, also by Welz.

The base is badly damaged but as I consider it an unusual example I bought it anyway. When new the base would have looked like the base of the right hand vase in image three.....alternate long/short rounded glass feet.

      Nice assortment.... :-)
Regarding Vaseline glass. Technically, vaseline glass is actually a yellowish color. Although it is uranium salts which cause it to glow, the actual color of the glass was the origin of the name. The name is now also commonly applied to green glass which glows from uranium, but technically, that is uranium glass, and not vaseline glass.

      Thank you very much, Craig.

So the green one is uranium glass and the mauve one is just glass :)

This one is such a beauty Peggy! What really attracted me to it is the opalescent look of that lovely pink. Luv the last pic!

Thank you Rick, for letting me know, discreetly, that it is opalescent :)
