This is my favorite military padlock. I took my most beat up looking Hi Shear lock, ground all of the welds flush then sanded all the dings & scratches out of it. After that i gave it a almost mirror polish.
If i knew it was going to take so much sand paper & so long to do i would of never done it but now that its done its a kinda cool & unique padlock. I've never seen another one polished.
These locks were issued to the U.S. military in the 80s. They have a medeco 6 pin core with special hardened anti drill inserts in addition to that there are also two separate hardened ceramic pieces to give the cylinder even more drill protection. It weighs 4 & 1/2lbs. When installed correctly it is a very secure padlock. If anyone has a picture of the hasp for this lock or of one being used in service i would love to see it.
