Found in the basement of our restaurant. No markings. Good heavy metal. Free movement of hinge. Not sure what it is...about 5.25" long and 1 inch wide.
There is a small 4 stamped on top of base and a six or 9 on back of "handle".
Show it open. & the bottom. What size? Any marks?
Sorry... new to this site.
Some kind of door stop? It's not completely flat on the bottom, but slightly curved. Open it and slide/wedge under a door?
Tried it as a doorstop. Couldn't figure out how it could work like that... doesn't mean it couldn't be...
Are you in America? What kind of restaurant? Was it always a restaurant? How old is the restaurant/building?
Any marks on it? Patent #?
The bottom part would go under the door and the lever would go against the door? The curve of it is weird. It is NOT flat on the bottom.
It has a small 4 stamped on the top of the bottom and a 9 or 6 on the bottom of the lever. I am from Wisconsin in the US and restaurant has been around since at least the forties... the bottom does have a slight curve.
The opening would clamp hard on something, but not a cut, so much as a compression, I think.
Hmm - Wisconsin. Something cheese related maybe? A lever for turning big wheels of cheese?
It only opens so far, right?
I mean to lift the cheese wheel to get fingers under it to turn. LOL - I don't know!
