This is approximately 5 inches x 5 inches, and 1/2 inch thick. Made of tile material (seems to be sturdier than plaster of paris). The portrait has the name 'Priscilla' in the upper left corner, I am guessing it is Priscilla Mullins Alden, of the Massachusett's Plymouth Colony of Pilgrims. The dark brown parts are 'carved' into the tile. The back has a metal circular loop for hanging on a wall and a stamp that indicates a 1929 copyright and the name of the company, which is partially illegible. As far as I can tell it says (with an underline for the letters i can't read):
(c) 1929 COPYRIGHT
_ _ _ _KBEE B_ _ _ _ CO.
I have tried googling art tiles, art deco tiles, variations of names with KBEE on the end (or KDEE) but I really have no idea what I am looking for. I picked this up at a thrift store for 49 cents as kind of a funny little Christmas gift for a friend named Priscilla. However, after I got home and started looking at it I really appreciate the Art Deco style and nice quality of it and wanted to learn more about it. Any help would be welcome! Thanks in advance...
It’s Buckbee & Brehm- looks like they had a studio, and they did mostly lithographs & sillhouette cameo portraits
