Very pleased with these ones, bought for lucite :-)
Hubby will love them too!
Patent was applied in 1949 by Jacob Oldak.
The trouts are very well made, even if the carving isn't as detailed as on older pieces.
They're beautiful~!
Thanks Bonnie!
Perhaps the Neapolitan fisher boy helped me to catch them ;-))
Thanks Sean for the love!
Really nice!
Many thanks for loving the trouts, Master and Bobby725 :-))
Wow Pascale, I thought they were essex crystal when I first looked.........they are terrific!!! Really beautiful!!!
Lucky you!
Judy, I was surprised they were real intaglios and not those later painted moulded ones!
Perhaps older pieces (1920') mounted in 1950...

Stunning Pieces !!!!
OGF, hubby was very pleased, but he won't wear them, afraid of knocking the crystals :-/
Intaglio are techniques in art in which an image is created by cutting, carving or engraving into a flat surface and may also refer to objects made using these techniques. It may also be known as counter-relief, as distinct from relief.
Inverted relief? I just came to understand relief. ..;)
Going to have to look at that description and pieces for a bit but I appreciate your detailed information very much Kyra.
Is it kinda like Reversed Carving ...Instead of carved on the outside are, it is carved inwards
Oops Rose, missed your comment... THANK YOU!
OGF, and others interested in these, here is a link explaining the process of reverse painted crystal intaglios:
