This Mdina vase was a fortunate thrift shop find. It is ovoid in shape and about 6" tall by 3" in diameter. This piece is unmarked, but the seller had another vase in the same décor and a different shape, but with damage to the rim. That one had the Mdina sticker with the Maltese Cross. I have also seen similarly decorated signed Mdina objects. The base is ground flat, and the rim is polished. The glass is quite thick and heavy. When backlit, one can see that the base glass consists of many spots of amethyst colored glass in a clear matrix. The surface has applied straps or threads of glass. The body of the vase has an iridescent copper color with random iridescent blue spots. The strapping also has some of the blue iridescence. A colorful modern vase!
