I found this old Sears Belt driven machine in the woods with a friend of mine. Amazingly, the pulleys still turn, and the canvas belt is not torn or rotten. However, what is it, and what was it used for? Thanks!

Is there any chance the "belt" is actually a sanding belt? It looks like the true drive belt would be attached to the outside in the lower right of the first picture.

I think it a front mount buzzsaw, (cord saw) platform, longer belt attached to the drive pully and saw blade went on the top arbor
