This is one of the more unusual glass hand vases in my collection. It is made from 3 layers of cased glass - clear over white with an interior of green aventurine. There is also an applied golden yellow crest on the double crimped rim. I got this on eBay, the seller was in the Czech Republic. Hand vases were made by many manufacturers, I am not certain of the maker of this piece, but as hand vases go, it is a very high quality piece. The typical glass hand vase is usually made of a single layer of either white or turquoise blue opaque "milk" glass. Cased hand vases are harder to find, & this is the only example I have seen with green aventurine.

IronLace, my white with red splatter is kinda fabulous! I was a great find - it's hard to find unusual hand vases these days. Your collection looks fabulous too! I'm guessing that your green and my red are from the same maker, which sadly, I don't know! Which hand vase from your collection is your favourite?

I bought this vase from the Czech Republic several years ago, & I think it is most likely of Bohemian origin. It would be nice to know the exact maker.
As to my favourite hand vase, that's a difficult choice, as I have favourites for different reasons. I suppose the top one has to be the double handed one, just for rarity's sake, as I've never seen another one in over 25 years of collecting -

It was from the estate of Maude B Feld, a prominent collector of art glass, & is marked underneath with her name & an accession number. Numerous pieces from her collection were also illustrated in the Grover's book "Art Glass Nouveau", one of the classic early reference works on Victorian & Art Nouveau art glass, when it first became a popular collecting area in the 1960s.

The fact I was able to put together this pair, found at different times & places, owes a great to deal to pure serendipity.
I love all of your favourites and clearly missed some of your pictures of your collection as I attempt to navigate my way through this site! I've posted a picture of my red splatter one, which I suspect may have been made by the same maker as your green one.
