All I can say is WOW!!! I found this among tons of other very old pieces that belonged to my great grandmother but have no clue to its oage other than I think it's definitely over 100 yrs old. Don't know where she got it or anything about it. Hoping someone knows a little about it. Thank you in advance.
It's Mexican folk art, probably from the state of Puebla, based on the style of the little people, with their rather formless shapes. It looks older, but most likely dates to the 1940s/1950s when this type of pottery souvenir was gaining popularity.
Thank you CanyonRoad. Really appreciate it
See carriages like this on Lee Price Arellano's excellent website, http://www.HeronMartinez.com. Many of us who collect Heron's work have one of these pieces and they are in a couple of sizes. So,this is either a Heron or done by someone in his studio in Acatlan de Osorios, Pueblo state. The curley-ques are very Heron and the clay color definitely Acatlan.
Rodolfo8 Thank you so much. It definitely is a Heron Martinez piece. I just found it on his site. It's called Chariot. That's you agin. I really appreciate it. This is one of my favorite pieces.
Mark the mystery solved!
Did, thank you.
