Hello fellow collectors!!!
This is my forward facing Boston Bull Terrier cast iron doorstop. He was made by the I.C.C. CO. foundry. From what I know about the forward facing I.C.C. doorstops, this was made around the 1890-1900 period.
He still retains most of his original paint and has the makers mark stamped on the bottom side. He has a ring on his "Spiked" collar, which you won't see on other cast iron dogs. The ring is there because this fellow was originally sold with a small leather leash. You'll also notice that the slotted screw heads are much larger in diameter than the Hubley, National Foundry or Albany Foundry dogs.
You typically see right facing Boston Bull Terriers, and very few left facing ones. But, rarely will you see a forward facing Boston Bull Terrier doorstop.
Thanks for stopping to have a look at my I.C.C Co. doorstop!
