I bought this delightful pottery piece a month ago in a junk shop. It was covered in thick grime, it took me an hour to clean it after soaking, brushing most of the dirt off, finishing the cleaning with cotton wool tied around thin hairpin.
The previous owner clearly cherished it, the trinket box has two restorations, the knob of the lid and one petal was glued back, it's pity he/she used a dark glue for the knob.
I think it took a lot of work to make this piece, it seems to me every single flower was separately handmade. The piece has only the crown mark and the 'made in Italy' sign. It can't be really old, but I love it, in my eyes it has got a 'character'. Its diameter is 4.5''.
If anybody has got a clue about the maker, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you for stopping by and I wish to everybody a very MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

Bonnie - this was my first thought too, but the trinket bowl lacks the typical N mark.
