MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GREAT POSTING!!!
Bit more research done and I've managed to find more about the signed ball. It was between two USAAF teams stations in the UK during WW2.
This was found on a site and names the teams:
On July 22, an estimated crowd of 5,000 saw the VIII Bomber Command Bombers top the 93rd Bomb Group Traveling Circus, 2-I, in a seven-inning twilight thriller at the St. Lawrence Cricket Grounds in Canterbury. This was the Bombers' second triumph over the Traveling Circus outfit and their 14th straight win in ETO competition. Ross Grimsley struck out six batters to bring his total up to 92 in eight games.
The search goes on for players names so I can see which team signed the ball.
Can now confirm that the ball is signed by:
Bomber Command Bombers
Ross Grimsley
Nick Fracaro
Grady "Red" Corriher
Gene Lynch
Joe Gradisher
Jim Roughton
Jim Beane
Al Mace
John Loboda
Clarence Lay
Louis Cornibert
Nick Fracaro was my father. You can read about him on the web site old timers baseball.
