I found this watch in a box of old family watches and rings. Was wondering how old it is and its value. Any info would be greatly appreciated. On the back it reads : Gruen 14K Gold

Yup, good score.... Value's are not part of this forum, but you did alright
To keep from wearing out, a watch needs 7 jewels. For very moving piece that wears, a watch needs 17 jewels-- and is thus fully jeweled and is considered to be quality. Anything over that (in the case of your 21-jewel watch) is considered high-quality, as a watch with more than 17 jewels would be made over-all better than a less-jeweled watch (i.e. better craftsmanship/materials).
I don't know anything about Gruen, but they are a collectible watch and you may be able to find out when it was made here:

You'll have to scroll a bit and get the back open, but do not let dust get inside the back.
