This clock came from my late mother-in-law’s house. My wife grew up listening to the sound of it and is now pleased to hear it again. It was not running when we got it but a friend overhauled it at a discount ($65) and now it keeps perfect time. I did one minor repair myself when I adjusted one of the wires that comes from the shaft that is used to activate the strike train. This put the chimes back in synch.
It is an EN Welch/Sessions; the movement has Welch on it and the case matches one from the clockprof.com which he says is a Sessions. I know the takeover results in a lot of “hybrids” as we have here.
As with any quality workmanship, I am pleased to admire this and now find old clocks quite fascinating. Also, as you can see, the alarm mechanism is not in the case though I would not use it.
Appreciate your site and will look back often to read other stories.
I have this EXACT clock! It was my great-grandmother's and I inherited it from my aunt.I just picked it up yesterday and today I am taking it to the shop . It looks beautifula an fully intact but does not work. If it is not fixable I'll just enjoy the looks and knowing my ancestor touched it. Wish me luck!
Sorry for the delayed response; curious if you were able to get yours repaired. Does it have an alarm mechanism? I have not seen another with both the case and the pattern on the glass. Best of luck!
I am Lynette from the previous post. I had to change my user name due to inability to get on the post thread. Anyway, I'm also sorry for answering so late. Yes my clock has the alarm mechanism. I took it to the shop and all it need was a good cleaning. It keeps perfect time and the alarm works perfectly also. I'm so happy with it. We do use the alarm/chime. Other than yours, I haven't seen another with same case or pattern. I just was on the internet looking for one like mine and some history of it, and ran across yours. I will post pictures in the next day or so so you may see it.
Hi Lynette,
You have a very nice antique clock.
I'm a little late to the party here but I was able to find your clock in one of my references books so just fyi, according to Tran Duy Ly your model was referred to as "Assortment 'A' No. 3" and it is from circa 1903.
That's the original stencil pattern on the glass pane.
That seems kind of like a very "corporate" name that Sessions gave to the clock series isn't it? Either that or something an announcer would say over the P.A. at a Dog Show, "This is German Sheppard No. 7",
It's a very nice, ornate pattern. I'd have to give it a personal name if it were in my collection. :)
Thanks for sharing your family heirloom
Looking forward to it. Always enjoy photos such as these.
Bruce99, I glad you joined the "part" and thanks SO much for the info on the clock. I had been a little disappointed I wasn't able to find out an exact year of "birth" for the clock so, you have solved that mystery for me. Does your reference book have the orginal sell price? I love the comparison to a dog show (laugh), which was something I would have never thought of. diabilityguy, thanks and I'll post pics very soon.
Everyone, please forgive my typos. I'm really quite literate but it seems I'm uable to type without mistakes.
Typoes, what typeso?
Yes, it says they came in Oak or Walnut. Price with Wire Bell was $3.00. Alarm was 35 cents extra. Cathedral Bell was 35 cents extra. Accounting for inflation that would have been about $72-$80 in 2010. The Author appraised a mint and all original example of this clock at $300 in 2002. That would be more of a retail setting. Here's one that sold at auction for $90: http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/4261803
If you search ebay for Item number: 190641716820 you'll find one that sold this month for $109 so even at auction these models seem to at least hold their original value if you keep them in good running order.
Regards
Wow! So much info! Many thanks! Pics will be posted tomorrow.

You're welcome Lynette!
alright, I added the photo by creating a "Show and Tell" I hope you all can find it. I'm just learning how to navigate this site.
And right after that last note, I figured out how to find my photo/Show and Tell post (laugh!).
