The scene is clearly in the night-- with a little Moon reflecting off the water and a silhouetted landscape-- and almost looks like Northern Lights in the sky.

I think the crystal is acrylic.

Ideas on age/where it came from?

I'm going to polish it up and give it to my mom.

It a little hard to tell from the photos but the foillike background could be morpho butterflywings. They are originaly blue but in old jewelry you can see the color faded to brownish due to damp or sunlight. You can search for butterflywings jewelry or morpho butterfly on CW and you can see some posts to compare with. I have a necklace and earrings in my collection with information. Good luck.

"Butterfly Wings" have the best search result on CW.

Kind of like grotesque. LOL. Thank you.

Yes. Was I right or wrong in my guess? :)

      I think you are correct.

Now the question is, when is it from? It appears it could be from 1920s to 1960s.

From what I can see from the photos from 1930's and onwards due to what I can see of the clasp and hinge. I don't know if there where any production of these somewhere during the war otherswire I would say 1930's- early 1950's but it's hard to tell. I haven't seen enough pieces to tell when this type of scenery was most popular.

      My mom loved it too.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen this many loves on one of my items. LOL.

I guess it's all because of all the comments. The more comments, the more the post is revived, and thus the more loves it gets. I see people purposely reviving their posts for loves, quite often actually.

In about 5 mins look for the post with flowers-- I'm writing it right now.
