I just love love this vase & have yet to find another even remotely close.
I have hit a dead end with this one & hope somebody on CW can help me out here.
Would love to know it's origin & time period & one more question...Is it clay?
It could be a simplified version of traditional Moroccan glazed pottery, influenced by Berber design patterns. Especially the pattern around the neck, with the triangles filled in with parallel lines, and the area with the little dot in the middle of the cross-hatched design...common elements in Berber pottery. However, an attribution based solely on the design patterns isn't really a good idea. But it might be a direction to explore.
"Clay" is the basic material that, when exposed to high heat in the firing process, becomes pottery. Pottery can then be further divided into categories such as earthenware, stoneware, porcelain, etc., based on the composition of the clay used, and the temperature at which it is fired.
