Hello again CW friends!!
This is my large cast iron Mr. Ratty. I just got this one as well and he too was severely rusted. I spent quite a while cleaning him up as well. I chose to paint and seal him as I'd really like to preserve this fellow. I chose the colors that I thought Mr. Ratty might like to be.
Mr. Ratty is very whimsical! I love the detailing on him like the wine chalice, the way his tail curls around and lays on his shoe and the buttons on his sleeves and jacket. I wish I knew who the artist was that originally designed these castings. Mr. Ratty was cast at a foundry in England by London Ornaments.
Though not vintage (yet), Mr. Ratty is highly collectible.
He too is solid cast iron and quite big fellow. Mr. Ratty is solid, 17" tall and weighs in at 19 lbs!
Thank you all for stopping to have a look at Mr. Ratty!!

Thank you and Happy New Year to you!!!!
These are really neat.
fortapache,
Thanks very much!! I love these guys as well, but felt they should really be painted to bring out the detailing of them.
You did such an excellent job of painting Scott! You even went so far as to match the stripes on his pants to his vest :-) He was so lucky to have found a friend LOL.
Rick,
You're far too kind friend!! I put a lot of thought into the color choices for their clothing. I just felt that Mr. Ratty needed some stripes on his trousers and chose to match his vest. Thanks again for the comment, the love and for stopping by!! Many thanks to you Rick!!
Celiene,
