Hi CW Gang and ~ HAPPY NEW YEAR ~ for 2017:
I just picked this up today and I am thinking that they are HEMATITE as I do have something here something like it ( Where those are, not sure at the moment...LOL). Very good weight to them, and I tried a magnet to them and it did not attract to it. This is a single long Strand that I just looped into 2 strands. I suppose newer, or in the last 20 +/- years
Thanks for LOOKING // LOVING !!

=============
Hematite is weakly magnetic. I have a hematite choker, so tried my rare earth magnet on it and it stuck.
Here's an interesting article about Hematite:
https://appealingenvironments.wordpress.com/2012/02/10/hematite-to-fake-or-not-to-fake/
My hematite is processed:
"What is the difference of Magnetic and Non Magnetic Hematite? The difference is that Hematite is not naturally found magnetized (actually, only a very small magnetic charge can be found within natural hematite) and only becomes this way through a mechanical process. The procedure includes heating and cooling the hematite while it is attached to very strong magnet. Most often the Magnetized Hematite does not even include Hematite, but uses synthetic ceramic barium-strontium ferrite magnet and is polished to a silvery gleam. Most manufacturers keep their formulas a trade secret. Artificially or fake magnetized Hematite may not serve our highest good or expectation, but may offer a relief to the wearer.'
Beautiful necklace, and your pics are outstanding!
Happy New Year Rose!!!
