There are numerous bells and whistles that go with this gravy boat. First off its a gravy boat. Rare and exceptionally hard to find item.
Numerous marks on base includes the stamp mark with Marion, the purple #7, the number 7 over 27,and 3 kiln marks where it sat in the kiln....There is another mark either 2, 8 or an S appears next to the word ivory.
After all that the artwork of embossed floral is stunning. Deep rich blues, yellow, greens, and Brick reds.As for the spouts it appears as if they just smudged that aspect. Looks unfinished (pic 7). All in all beautifully done.
I cant pinpoint date yet, but my guess is late 1890's to early 1900's...Did check Wedgwood guides. Found things relating to letters more than numbers...
Would like to know what the 7 over 27 means? Is this possibly month over year? Making it from July 1927 ? Also the purple 7. What does this mean.If anyone knows please and thank you...
Thank you Mr V 50, Mike LV, and Aura ...HNYear 2017
