7 1/2 Thumbs Up Victory Doll by Margit Nilsen. The dolls were produced in 1941 WWII by Margit Nilsen Studios NYC USA and represents a 7 year old . The dolls were advertised to encourage people to: ” buy them to aid the British Campaign”. The money raised from the sales were used to purchase medicine and ambulances for Britain during World War II. The production ended after the United States entered the war.
'The manufacture of this official thumbs up doll is participating in the bui ld aide Britain Campaign by donating a portion of her profit on the sale to British American ambulance corps.'' The back side of Tag reads; " your purchase of this doll helps to sending ambulances to Britain and her allies and vitamins to the under nourished children to England''
She is all original and shows her age and retains her original hang tag that has a corner torn off but ha she s a great history to her and unlike the miniature mannequins Margit was famous for .This doll is a refreshing different view of her talent as a sculptor

I really wish you could visit/see one of the local opp shops I visit. They have a doll sale every year and unfortunately I know nothing about them but the sweetheart who runs the place is 92 and her daughters work there. It's kind of amazing but I don't know what I'm looking at or for in dolls. It just makes me a little nuts because I know you would find some amazing things you love there. ;0)
