We found this under the original porch of our house which we believe was built in 1858 by the Torrence family, which moved to Russellville, Arkansas from North Carolina. Does the button backing provide any clues as to age? Is it antique or merely a vintage replica like the other "devs spes nostra es" button shown on this site?
As to size, it's a bit smaller in circumference when compared to a nickel.
