Any info about this platter would be appreciated...a friend of mine got it as gift over 30 yrs ago. Any clue on who made it?

I think this might be a Mikasa Walther pattern but I don't know that I've ever seen a pattern name. I usually Google 'Mikasa Walther leaf' to see some examples.
swfinluv1 is right - the bowl is Mikasa Waltherglas, West Germany. Here is another one:
