A fairly typical piece of enameled glass from Japan C1960s.

A blow moulded bowl has been melded to a moulded base, had a partial gold transfer applied, and then been hand enameled.
The enameling here, although often similar to Venetian and Bohemian, shows well some Japanese traits. The leaves have a very distinctive green to yellow shade, and the flowers are thickly applied. The gold scrolling is also quite thickly applied.

This may have been made by Tajima Glass but it's quite probable other companies jumped on the bandwagon when this style was high fashion.

Very nice! I have two vases in this style; one I believed to be Japanese and the other Czech. After you explanation I am not sure any more and it may be the other way around - LOL
I will post them when I get a chance and maybe you can enlighten me?

Further confirmation that the Japanese produced their take on every style of glass ever made, as well as glass all their own! I'm not sure whether they're channeling the Italians or the Czechs or neither in this case. The red is certainly all their own!

You're not kidding about the flowers being thickly applied Karen! At first sight I thought Venetian, so I'm glad you pointed out the Japanese elements in regard to the color of the leaves. Beautiful!

Hello mate! ;) Lovely goblet. I'm way behind but you got the goodies up front. :) And the info to back it up. Always impressive and makes me go..huh? But, Oh!
Thanks for all your support last year!! Hope your holidays were amazing.

Great comment Peggy. The red of this is a colour peculiar to blow moulded Japanese glass of this era; quite an orange tone. Thanks for the love.

Rick I do have problems at times telling them all apart and they seem to be my best cues. Thanks for commenting and loving, I always appreciate your take.

I would have said venetian too, as I have a Venetian goblet ( taller ) with that type of swirled stem on it from the base

Rose I have a number of goblets, labelled Made in Japan, with the twisted stem.
I think the style was well accommodated by them!
