    "Centaurs And Mermaids" Circa 1940s oil on canvas by listed Russian French artist Vladimir Volodia Lazarev (1904 - 1988). Signed in the lower right corner by the artist.
    Size: 24 x 30 inches without frame / 29 x 35 with new frame
    Found the following on line:
    Vladimir Lazarev: Vladimir Lazarev was born in Russia, in a small village near Rostov-on-Don, in 1904. He attended public school in Rostov until he was 16 years old. He joined the Imperial Army during the Russian Revolution. Later, after recovering from shrapnel wounds, he studied engineering in the University of Czecho-Slovakia. He later moved to Germany where he attended art schools and also studied with various artists. He also attended art schools in Paris and studied under private tutors, one of them being Miassodev. He lived in France and Germany over a period of fifteen to twenty years.

    Found on line (loosely translated):
    Son of a railroad sluzhaschego. 1920 the family moved to Prague. He took private lessons with a group exhibition prof.O.Needy.Uchastvoval Needy students and exhibitions of the Union of Russian Artists in Czechoslovakia. In 1930 he moved to Paris, visited the Academy F. Kalarossi. In 1950, held a personal exhibition of Vladimir Lazarev.

    Just received this wonderful painting today and have it hanging over my living room fireplace where its looks spectacular!

      Spectacular!
      I wonder what the centaurs are going to do with the mermaids.... ;-D
      Perhaps someone may have a technical solve to an anatomical incompatibility... Bb2???
