I inherited some old baseball photos from my grandfather in 1983. They had been in a box under his house for years, and mostly look like it. He worked for a large company from the 1930s to 1970s which fielded a competitive baseball time and they received these photos (prints?) from a company out of NY called Elliott Services Company. My grandfather managed to snag a few over the years and kept them rolled up in an old box. I have never found anyone that can tell me exactly what these were, or how rare they are, or what they are worth. So, just curious who has run across others of these? Please forgive the presentation of Sandy, he deserves better, but getting these things unrolled is tricky! Approximate size of photo is 17"x12". Caption sheets vary in size. Help me solve this mystery!
Great photo! I have seen/ owned several similar (earlier baseball images).
They are news service broadsides that were mailed to subscribers. There were several companies out there doing this with the images coming from all types of current events (famous people, events, news stories....). I have seen them from as early as the 1920s.
