This appears to be a box framed 2-d female Buddha art work, I know nothing about this except came from an estate sale. measures 23 x 17 inches. wood box framed. appears to be gold and silver colors. I cant make out the material. any help with identifying would be greatly appreciated.

It's not Japanese. That I do know. It's fantastic! How heavy is it? What does the back look like? Could it be carved & painted wood?

POSSIBLY Nepalese? The corners are moths. There be dragons!

Ooh! It's Buddha en route to Lumbini via Snake.

"A carving above a monastery in Kathmandu’s Durbar Square. In the middle is the Buddha riding a snake while Indra holds a parasol. This is quite a popular scene in Nepali Buddhist art, (you can see another version below the Golden Window in Patan) one which shows the gods as subservient to the Buddha after his enlightenment."

Weight is around 8-10 lbs, here is a picture of the Back. Any ideals to how old this is ??? Celiene thank you for all your help. I'm reading up on this trying to get more knowledge. Than you again.

      What a nice piece!
      It is stamped metal :-)

I would guess 1960's? It does looked stamped. The silver, anyway. The 'gold' seems more substantial - especially the dragons with their wire 'smoke'. The mountain is nailed to the back. I'd be able to tell in person.
