From what I understand, my parents took a trip to NYC shortly after they were married. My mother wanted to buy my dad something from Tiffany and this was the only thing she found that she could afford. I have seen similar leaves but they appeared to be much larger. I assumed it is gold but I don't see any marks. Does anyone know the deal on the Tiny Tiffany Leaf?

i dug out my Hastings Triplet and took a better look. On the stem is "14k". That answers one question. On the underside of the leaf is scratched (probably in the wax-not the gold) is a series of characters. If read vertically it appears as "4 7 2(or Z) followed by a circle with an "X" through it. Read left-to-right it could be an upper case "J" and maybe a lower case "r " and an upper case "N" and the quartered circle device. I assume this pin was sold with some sort of back. Is it safe to assume the back will not be made of 14k? There are about two dozen backs from tie tacks, organizational pins and military designations. Any idea what is going to make this back distinctive? Thank you!
