In sorting through my dad's jewelry box I ran across these cuff links. There were quite a few pairs but these stand out. The cabochon shaped domes appear to be glass. The anchor end pivots but not much. The finish looks like plating over copper? There are no markings that I can find. My guess is that they belonged to my grandfather but past that I have no idea.

    Any details are greatly appreciated.

They could very well be you grandfather's; they date from early 20th century.

Thank you for putting an approximate age to the pieces. I dug out my Hastings Triplet and after a battle with my bifocals determined there are no markings. The cabochon shapes are not nearly what I expected. While I still stand by glass I was thinking there would be air bubbles in an otherwise transparent field. These are pretty much opaque. My father, his father, and his grandfather (I believe were all born and raised in Louisville, KY. Was there a regional preference of style in men's accessories? It would be great to figure out who produce them. I do know that my father's distant cousin owned a haberdashery in downtown KC. The cousin lost the business in 1922.

This style was made by more than one manufacturer and small retail stores would order them from catalogs in a variety of colors. They are most definitely glass unless the setting is gold, and your don't look like they are.

Thank you davy286! The cabochon shapes are in a color that matches pretty much ...nothing in the natural gem world (at least not ruby or garnet). More like a piece of a rose window in a cathedral. The plating has not tarnished so I guess it is safe to assume it is gold. Is it gold plated copper? Regardless I like the way the finish has worn and I won't be parting with them anytime soon.

It could be plated copper or brass or a nickel alloy. They are very attractive.

I think the help that davyd286 has provided all the help I am likely to find without more providence. Thank you!
