I spent many summers as a child with family in England in and around the Newcastle, Lobley Hill area. I often went with my Uncle Ken (Hemmings) to boot sales and digging in dumps for bottles. Picked up several Newcastle on Tyne medicine bottles. I currently live in Golden, Colorado, USA and we have a small coal mining town in our state called Newcastle. I met up with a long time resident about purchasing glass mine insulators, the deal of which I made contingent on getting one of the proprietary medicine bottle in his collection....Pictured on top is one of my bottles from Newcastle England reading "R. Emmerson & Sons, Newcastle On Tyne" river and my other one from Newcastle Colorado on the bottle reading "Max L. Schayer's, Newcastle Pharmacy, Newcastle On The Grand, Colo." river....I like the play on words.
