Black bakelite or galalith bangle - the same as Elisabethan has posted yesterday. I bought it at a vintage shop. Can you believe it was in a wooden jewelry section? Even if it is obviously made from plastic.
I was not sure what is this made from, Simichrome test for bakelite was negative. But I was happy to learn that this material is possibly bakelite or galalith. Its my first one that is carved!!
Wow! Beautiful ha ha :). I have never seen these before, great that you have the same. Vintage plastic is nothing like wooden :)
What's the mesurements and weight? Yours might be a bit more chunky (is that the Word)?
Fantastic, you and Elisabethan got the same bangles!!!
Lovely deep black and neat carvings :-D
Elisabethan, I dont have a weight. My personal, empiric, feeling is that its heavy like a bakelite would be. It is cca 2,7 cm high, and cca 8,7 cm wide.
Thank you Kyra! Long lost siblings meet each other on CW!
Thankyou, so about the same as mine in mesurements. Still think yours look thicker (sorry my english might be poor, maybe another word should be used). Hope you understand me.
It is cca 1 cm thick.
Your english is as good as mine, I am no native speaker.
Thank you valentino97 and Nicefice!!
LOL I can certainly believe that...thrift shop staff often have no clue about jewelry. Your bangle is a beauty.
Thank you Efesgirl! I rarely visit that one shop - almost nothing there, and they are expensive - and they sell mostly uninteresting pieces!
I would say, on case of this company, the good stuff is sorted out somewhere (maybe they have some kind of a centre for that) - its a thrift shops chain, that has a fancy, glossy vintage shop as well. Yet the stuff in their thrift shops is better and cheaper than that fancy vintage place of theirs. And agree, shop staff knows nothing.
LOVE IT! I like black, and I like big pieces.
Thank you freiheit!
