Purchased from Craigslist ad. This is a advertising inkstand cabinet made by the American Hotel & Supply co. And is dated 1898. It is made of an unknown metal and glass with stone accents. The advertising tiles are hand made milk glass advertisements. This was on the counter in the Hotel Albany in Albany Oregon. I have photos of it on the counter. Hotel & Supply co. would send these to your business and lease it to you under contract without advertisements. You, according to the contract, would have to purchase the inkstand supplies from them only. Once the contract is up you would ship it back. Hotel & Supply folded and this one never made it back. It is very heavy!!! I have verified all but two ad tiles to be from the Albany area. I haven't found another example of one of these yet.

Thanks! I'm very exited to have acquired this item, it's my best ink well for sure. I guess it's not really an ink well, it's a ink stand but since it's my only ink stand it must be the best one? I'm hoping someone has seen one of these before and can give us more info on them.

Neat piece, I have some info on the hotel. It didn't open until after 1912, and it closed in the late 60's. It was the tallest building in town before its demolition in 1977. Are you local to Albany?
