I was given this bottle about 40 years ago by my boyfriends mother (I didn't marry him), anyway she knew that I liked little bottles. She told me this was an opium bottle. I have kept it all these years and decided to check the web to see what it is. I was not able to find a picture of a bottle like it. Is there anyone who might know?

The bottle measures 2 3/4 inches
The cap measures 3/4 of an inch and is silver

    Thanks so much

I love the shape of your bottle & the cut glass design. Could it have been used as a perfume bottle?

This bottle is a "janusette", from the 18th century, probably French
or English, with cut glass and silver, with an inside glass stopper.
filled with Fragrance and attached in the corsage .
between the breasts. There are some bottles like this at the
GIVAUDAN collection in Paris. 18th or early 19th http://www.pierre-dinand.com

Definitely a scent bottle and nothing to do with Opium.
