katherines…
(247 items)
So I bought this brooch for a bonnie price -- Bonnie price, get it? -- and when I got it home found that it was marked Zeidell's Sterling. It is gold washed over silver with what appears to be an opal triplet. There were other Zeidell pieces I found online that were also sterling with semi-precious stones, but couldn't find any history on this company. The values on the pieces were surprisingly very low, which is why I'm posting this thread. Just based on the silver and stones should have been worth more, and the design of my brooch is quite nice, I think. Why selling so cheap is a mystery to me.
what a beautiful brooch!! the profile picture is adorable!!!
Wow, fast love, thanks Sean! It is a beautiful brooch! :)
Your very welcome Katherine!!!
That is a real BEAUTY!!! Very nice!
katherinescollections, based on the design and even the maker's mark, I think that your piece of jewelry falls into the same category as my Bond Boyd collection: undervalued. The reason could be that these designs don't "speak" to many collectors yet. What I mean by that is that they are not well-known/advertised and haven't made a name for them. Many of those pieces go back to the 50's-70's and are neither avant-garde nor traditional. I think that their time will come and collectors will start to appreciate at least some of them, like your pretty brooch:)

Thanks, Scott, we agree it is a very nice little beauty. :)
Thanks, freiheit, it is a pretty brooch, and yes undervalued, for reasons I don't understand but perhaps as you say like other jeweler lines may eventually be appreciated for what they are. :)
I'm with you on this Katherine - undervalued (as are the Bond Boyd Freiheit speaks of).
It means we have to get into them NOW!!
Anyway, this brooch; I really like it. An opal in those colours is gorgeous (even as a triplet), but it is the asymmetrical design of this that grabs me. Balanced, yet not - I love the look of it.
BTW - did you do that to your cat? I'd be cranky too lol!
Thanks for the love, Peasejean, valentino97, TassieDevil, and fortapache. :)
Karen, it's hard to judge what will happen in the future. Look at Avon, values haven't increased and probably won't ever as long as the company exists, too much product on the market. What I find strange about the Zeidell pieces is that even just the precious metals and stones in their jewelry should account for something, and they are rather nicely designed, I'd say and well made. It's one of those mysteries in a collector's life, I guess, lol. :)
Thanks for the love, mikelv85. :)
Thanks, Val, for your kind and wise words. I enjoy my collections, too, most of the time, and don't mind adding a piece here and there, even if, as you say, they aren't valuable now, the value to me is in their beauty. :)
Bonnie's price... gilded silver... beautiful triplet snd brooch... A treat for you, Katherine, well deserved! :-D
Prices may be silly, in one sense or another! Better to get undervalued pieces and wait...
A beauty!
