I have been intrigued by this picture for a while. I have tried to do some research to try and determine where this is, but no luck. I am assuming it is a real building or was at one time-the people in this picture look real like an old photograph. Does anyone have any idea about what type of picture this is or where the location maybe?
Thanks for stopping by, Spiritbear
No help here, but I love the architecture!
I am familiar with this type of photo and looks exactly like one of the expositions of the early years, eg. around 1890's to around 1910. Its a beauty !
Thanks Rick55 and Phildmorris! Do you think this is a copy of an actual photograph? It is big and is like on cardboard?
That's a good one. Without actually seeing it up close it's impossible to tell. Have you looked at it under a loop or magnifying glass to see if it has a dot structure - which would indicate a print?
I just found that this is the Electric tower from the 1901 fair in New York!! Thanks Phildmorris for steering me in right direction! Rick55, I will take a closer look a little later with magnifier.
That's great, I'm so glad you were able to find out what it's a photo of. :-)
Rick55-look at the spoon I posted-who knew?
Glad you found the right photo, I knew what it was. I have seen other photos where they used art and mixed photography at the bottom where all the people are walking. Is this post card size ?? This photo is one of the best examples I have seen. It all looks so grand !!~
This photo shows the actual photo which is much more "real" :

The Electric Tower (the fair's center piece) designed by John Galen Howard. These buildings were built as a means of rapid construction and temporary ornamentation and not made to last. Prior to its demolition, an effort made via public committee to purchase and preserve the original Electric Tower from the wrecking company for nearly US$30,000 ($855 thousand in 2016 dollars). However, the necessary funding could not be raised in time.
After the demolition they designed a real building in Buffalo :

Thank you Phildmorris-this picture is huge at 15x19 inches (measured just inside of frame). Turns out I also have a spoon with this same building from the 1901 fair and never knew it till tonight. I posted that also.
Great solve PHIL !!!!
What a coincidence huh? The answer was sitting in your house the whole time :-)
