It is, indeed, a "barn"-lantern, for lack of a better term. Time-period? 1910-to-30's, maybe???

I have a BUHL-lantern much like this one, except mine is an "ECLIPSE"-model, and has a DIETZ 98-globe on it, instead. Otherwise, almost a perfect-copy of yours---and in equally-"distressed" condition!? The PRISCO N2O MAY-possibly refer to it's water/snow/storm-resistance??? Don't quote that as a fact, as it's only a guess.

Mine is still quite functional, mostly for the retro-appeal of such, of course. Mine will burn brighter AND cleaner on K-1 Kero, but will burn quite well on #1 Diesel or Home Heating fuel, as well.(It will function with #2 Diesel, but using such tends to clog the wick, esp. in cold-temps.) It does NOT like quality lamp-oil, for some reason? Maybe burns TOO-fast/clean???

Mine leaks around the bottom-seam of the tank a bit, but not enough to be dangerous. Just don't CLEAN-it off, or you WILL-have a literal-puddle, lol!

I've had it for years-upon-years! I'm absolutely enhanced by it's engineering, and design, where the hollow-frame pre-heats the burner assy. Once the temp gets stabilized, it's the smoothest-burning lemon-yellow flame I've ever seen from a wick-fed burner!

I, too, am curious about much the same-things about it as YOU are.

I inherited mine for FREE---so, I'll bet I beat YOU on the price-paid, for sure.....!!!
