I've fallen in love with this necklace, the photo's just doesn't do it justice. I think this is Georgian with the mushroom closed backs. The paste stones are very lively and glitter, unfortunately as I said I can't capture this in the photo's :-(. There is no chain as such the mounts seem to interlink if you look at the back photo you'll know what I mean, I don't know if there is a word for this. The one thing I have a problem with is the prong setting. The metal I think is silver gilt on brass, it is quite a hefty weight. The clasp is a tongue and box. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks for looking.

To be honest fleafinder I'd not even thought about the clasp, maybe it is a way forward. Thank you for you comment.

      Hi Jean,

I do not think your pretty necklace is Georgian, but more likely 20th century. Georgian settings are much different and do not use those large prongs. The clasp is not a Georgian style clasp either. You can see a number of examples of Georgian rivieres under the Necklace category on rowanandrowan.com

Hi Bluboi, thank you for your comment, yes I was also unsure of the prongs and therefore I do agree with you. The necklace wasn't sold as Georgian, I was interested in the enclosed backs and the paste stones are so pretty they are so bright and clear and lively. So would you say the necklace is in the Art Deco period.

Hi Jean, Personally, I would think more on the Deco side. I would be interested ot hear what others think.
