In the back of Lötz Böhmisches Glas 1880-1940, Band 2 (Katalog der Musterschnitte), there is a scan of a page from the Loetz Archives of a series of vases and bowls in crystal with various colors of overlay in a specific "Blumenschliff" or "flower cut" pattern designated 333. One of the shapes represented is PN II-8655/10 cm. A look through the larger Series II book by Lnenickova shows that PN II-8655 came in several different sizes. This vase is 12.5 cm tall. This variety is "kristall aussen rubin", or crystal with ruby overlay. This is part 1 of 2, because for some reason, when a decor falls on my radar, I tend to find more than one of them. :)
This vase and decor is one of those featured in Dr. Kai Hasselbach's excellent article on Loetz.com, "A Study of Loetz Cut Glass Production", which can be found at the link below:

This is very interesting Warren. I recently read through Dr Hasselbach's article with much interest. It opened up a world of Loetz glass that I did not previously been aware of. And while trawling through a french auction site came across a small, ball-footed, ruby glass vase similar to 14.01 in the article, but with the cut-design of 20.01. It would have passed me by had I not read this extremely interesting article. I'll post when it arrives - may be in a couple of days
Dear Warren,
thank you for kindly citation of my article, it would not have it's extend without your knowledge and permanent support. Thank You.
You're welcome, Kai - thank you for leading the way once again.
You always come up with something new Warren :-) I wasn't aware that Loetz made cut glass, and this is a beauty!
When the roses are right ... they are right ! ... tend to think the "square" ones are reproduction ...
